Firm to build Lagos-Abuja 45 minutes rail

Skyway String Transport Technology, a private firm, says its fast light rail service can move passengers from Lagos to Abuja in about 45 minutes. Light rail s It will be moving at an average speed of 150km per hour and has capacity for 500km per hour. The Regional Head, Skyway String Transport Technology, Mr. Arogundade Samson, said that the fast transport system had been carefully designed to assist the Nigerian government in alleviating the sufferings of the people in moving from one point to another. According to him, the hi-tech transportation system will solve the challenges of gridlock and hazards involved in travelling by road from Lagos to Abuja. US Embassy to close Abuja, Lagos offices Thursday

The United States Embassy in Nigeria has announced that its offices in Abuja and Lagos would be closed on Thursday, November 22, 2018. The US Embassy stated that the closure would be in observance of Thanksgiving. Ademola Lookman opts for England despite Nigeria interest

Everton youngster Ademola Lookman will choose to play for England moving forward, report the Daily Mail. The 21-year-old is though to have held “face-to-face talks” with Three Lions U21s boss Aidy Boothroyd with regards to his future, with rumours linking him with representing Nigeria instead. Long-lost ‘Nigerian Mona Lisa,’ valued at over $280G, found in ‘modest’ North London apartment

A long-lost ‘national icon’ painting of a Nigerian princess is up for auction in the U.K. after its surprise discovery in a North London apartment. “Tutu,” a portrait of Princess Adetutu Ademiluyi, was painted in 1974 by the Nigerian artist Ben Enwonwu and media reports have compared it to the “Mona Lisa.” The portrait, which will be auctioned by Bonhams in London on Feb. 28, has a pre-sale estimate of 200,000 to 300,000 U.K. pounds ($280,702 to $421,053). Three versions of “Tutu” were painted by Enwonwu between 1973 and 1974, all of which were considered lost until the discovery of the current painting. The image, which is widely known in Nigeria, became a symbol of national reconciliation following the bloody Nigerian-Biafran conflict of the 1960s. Lagos to unveil tourism master plan

Lagos State Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mr. Steve Ayorinde, has disclosed that Lagos State will unveil its Tourism Master plan later this month. He said it is a way to give legal backings to all its efforts in developing the tourism sector and make the state the preferred destination for business, leisure and entertainment. Ayorinde spoke at the opening of 14th edition of Akwaaba Travel and Tourism Fair in Lagos on Sunday. Represented by the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Mr. Fola Adeyemi, Ayorinde noted that tourism had become a major source of revenue and employment in many countries. He said: ‘’We have also been engaging and partnering the private sector in promoting Lagos as a prime destination with the private sector. We have actually supported private organisations in the entertainment and tourism sector, and in some cases engaged in partnership with them in organising social events to promote movement of people into the state.
